Four measurements cover almost everything we sell. Each one takes about two minutes and each one has a single mistake that causes most returns — those are flagged below.
Ring size
The mistake: measuring first thing in the morning, or on a cold day. Fingers are smallest then, and a ring sized to a cold morning finger will not come off on a warm evening.
How to measure
- Measure at the end of the day, at room temperature, with warm hands.
- Cut a strip of paper about 3mm wide. Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger.
- Slide it over the knuckle. It must pass over the knuckle without forcing — that is the real limit, not the base of the finger.
- Mark where the strip overlaps, lay it flat, and measure the length in millimetres. That is your circumference.

Between two sizes? Go up. A ring that spins slightly is a minor annoyance; a ring that will not pass the knuckle is unwearable. Go up a full size for wide bands (6mm and over) — a wide band sits on more of the finger and feels tighter at the same measurement.
Necklace length
The mistake: assuming a number without knowing where it lands. Two inches is the difference between a chain in the hollow of the throat and one that disappears under a collar.

All our chain lengths are measured end to end including the clasp. To check a length on yourself, hold a tape measure at the back of your neck, bring both ends round, and see where the loop falls.
Layering two chains? Leave at least 2 inches between them, or they tangle.
Bracelets and bangles
The mistake: measuring a bangle the way you measure a bracelet. They are sized completely differently and this is where most bracelet returns come from.
Chain bracelets — measure the wrist
Wrap a tape measure around your wrist, just below the wrist bone, snug but not tight. Add half an inch for a close fit or a full inch for a looser drape. That total is your bracelet length.

Rigid bangles — measure the hand
A bangle has to pass over your hand, so your wrist measurement is irrelevant. Tuck your thumb into your palm as if you were putting the bangle on, and measure around the widest part of your hand — across the knuckles, with the thumb tucked. Match that number to the bangle's inner circumference, and if you are between sizes, go up.
Earrings
Earrings do not have sizes, but three things decide whether a pair suits you:
- Drop length — measured from the top of the earring to the lowest point. Under 1 inch reads as everyday; over 2 inches reads as an event.
- Hoop diameter — measured across the outside. 15mm sits close to the lobe, 30mm is a visible everyday hoop, 50mm and over is a statement.
- Post or wire material — listed on every product, because it is the part that goes through your ear. If you are sensitive to nickel, read this line before ordering.
Hair accessories
Clip grip depends on two things: the length of the clip and how much hair you are asking it to hold. Every listing gives the length in inches.

Headband width matters too: a padded headband over 1.5 inches wide sits further back on the crown and stays put longer than a thin one.
